Commodore Amiga 500 Computer

During the first half of the 1980s three computer systems were released that would change the world. Two of them would go on to lead a new generation the third, which I considered to be the better of the tree would leave its mark before dying an early death.

The first of these three the IBM PC backed by the IBM brand and money would become the dominant player meeting a here to unknown business need.

The second living off the Apple ][ fame and in many ways supported by its older brother utilizing X windows developed under UNIX and “C” provided a new graphic user interface. The Macintosh provided the ideal tool for graphics and desktop publishing.

The last of the three the Commodore Amiga also supported a graphic interface. Lacking the finance backing of a little brother or a firmly established Industry leader. This excellent computer enjoyed little success and faced an untimely death.

Today, All Things DOS honors The Amiga and those few dedicated users that made this a part of their live.

Based on the Motorola 68000 family of microprocessors. This is the same microprocessor as the Apple Macintosh. The Amiga supported enhanced graphics and sound capability unknown in the industry to date.
